Where does our skin color come from?

Have you ever wondered where our skin color comes from? The human lineage originated in the tropics and spent most of its six million years existing in the tropic areas. Through natural selection, human skin adapted to the tropical environment. People moved and adapted to the new environments. People skin color changed because of the damaging affect from the sun, known as ultra violet rays (UV-rays). This means that people who are closer to the equator have a darker skin tone because of the high concentration of UV-Rays and people who are farther from the equator are exposed to a low concentration of UV-Rays so they would have a lighter skin tone. Humans produce offspring every day and those offspring are going to adapt to an environment. Those offspring will ask “where did my skin color come from?”  What will their parents tell them?
